Spring Fever

I don’t know what it is about spring, or rather, I don’t know what it is about this particular time in my life right now (which happens to coincide with spring), but I’m feeling good about getting more writing ‘out there’. No doubt it’ll boomerang right on back to me, but the main thing, I think, is to keep putting it out there. A writer friend of a writer friend of mine wrote about the importance of sending work out into the world and it really resonated with me (Rosie Garland’s excellent piece can be found here).

Spring reminds me of the chance for re-birth (it is, after all, the second-chance season) and I’m feeling that I just about have enough energy in this area of my life to send out some poems and other writings into the literary landscape. In fact, I’m trying to send out so much writing (in between all the other stuff I have to do) that I’m rather feverish with nervous energy!

In the background, work and family life rumble on pleasantly, and on the artistic front I have definitely noticed a theme with my paintings: portraits. Portraits of ladies. Here is my latest, inspired, in part, by Charles Vaughn’s painting ‘Universal Mind’.

Many thanks to Amanda over at WriteAlm for the writing prompts – they are much appreciated.

p.s. and by the time I posted this I already got one piece of writing winging its way back to me. Oh well, bring on the rest! 😉
